AEK: Youssi’s development has been delayed for 4 years, but it’s never too late
Christos Giousis stands out with his presence and his goals in the championship of the Second National. He scored two against Levadiakos and got a total of 7 points, which caused a lot of thought in the first team.
It was November 30th, 2017, when the then 18-year-old Christos Giousis got to know Greek football and especially the friends of AEK and scored twice in the Union’s away win (3-2) for the Greek Cup against Kallithea. Today, more than four years later, he is the protagonist of the 2nd team of the “yellow-blacks” and one of the top scorers in the championship of the 2nd national.
Dithyrambs followed this appearance in “El Paso” for the little star of the “Yellow-Blacks”, but in a championship season and since AEK admittedly achieved very beautiful things in Greece and Europe, there was no place for him. The problem was that he was never taken as seriously in the team as he should have been in order to have the necessary development at this critical age.
Unfortunately for Youssef, the course was full of negligible opportunities in the Union and borrowing. He returned to AEK and left after taking a course first in Platanias and then in Panachaiki. Of course, the presence of Ofridopoulos on the bench of the Second Union of the Union is a catalyst for the image that he continues to present in his stadiums to this day. Super League 2. The coach knows him well from the championship of this category, although they never worked together in Panachaiki.
The 22-year-old extreme striker admits he listens faithfully to what he wants of him and how he will return it on the field. This is the main reason why with 7 goals (he also has 3 assists) he is AEK’s top scorer in the category – and at least in these hours the second in Super League 2 – although he is not a regional striker but a player his Efforts will start from the wings.
Youssi’s racing who’s who
Christos Giousis is an extremist fighter with an instinctive goalscorer and management staff. Technically it has not shown the necessary improvement and its fast dynamics are not interwoven with modern requirements.
Nonetheless, this year’s performance by AEK B, which is leading in terms of points but also in terms of its general image, shows that it can be worth a regular assessment within the first team. With a style of play that is in many ways reminiscent of that of his namesake Albanis, he tries this year to use his presence to find his role in the Greek football scene.
AEK, which has him in its ranks, should not let its creation – as it has developed through its academies – be lost without being properly assessed. At the start as an alternative behind Chuber at the left end of the attack.
Since the existing alternative of Tankovic is not paid much attention to by coach Gianniki, mainly due to football data, it could be an opportunity to use the fighter and with football boldness (which is missing in the Albani mentioned) Youssi to prove whether the acquaintance from AEK in the cup game with Kallithea, can show a similar continuity, even with a considerable delay. We’re also talking about a player with references for a third season in the second division. So let it judge how it should be and if it’s worth it it will be seen …
Nobody can submissively argue that getting into the first team is worth it when the players on the wings are really good at the moment and have much more important careers behind them. Tankovic, who plays little, is also qualitatively superior. But why not find a place in the broader rotation and not become a permanent member of AEK, if there is room in the event of the Swede’s departure? Or even if he doesn’t. A question that was born within the team and will continue to preoccupy you if Youssis continues to stand out in the B category.
The test at Olympiakos and joining AEK
Christos Giousis was born on August 2nd, 1999 in Volos, grew up in Skiathos and played ball for the first time in Andros. Since 2013 it has been part of the infrastructure departments of the AEK.
But when he first came to Athens he was tested at Olympiacos. He did 2-3 training sessions, but when he received a call to attend the Piraeus Academy, he decided to go to AEK. The man who “ran” for him from the first moment in Athens was his uncle, his mother’s brother.
In the summer of 2017, Manolo Jimenez diagnosed Youssef as having a highly developed feel for the ball compared to the other youngsters on the team, precisely because his talent exceeded the average footballer of his age in technical skills.
He did not want to see unnecessary things from him and to attract cultivated individual energies, but rather his attempt to step into a range of men who offer substance. He asked him that during the summer preparation in the summer of 2017 in Kielce, Poland. Many years have passed since then before we see him again in such a way that he really arouses your interest.

An old acquaintance is the successor to Giorgos Simos on the Ionian bench and in the Nice team’s attempt to return to the Stoiximan Super League.

Finally, Simos from the Ionian Bank
Giorgos Simos has left the technical leadership of Ionikos since Wednesday (21/12), with the Nice team’s administration announcing the end of cooperation between the two teams.
Giorgos Simos took over from Ionikos at the start of the season but did not stay at the helm for more than a few months as the Blues’ management announced on Wednesday (21/12) their decision for the two teams to part ways.
“I would like to thank the entire Ionikos family who made me feel like I was a part of it from day one. Of course I would like to thank the players, my partners and the people in the team.”
I wish you all the best, only success and the fulfillment of all your goals”said Giorgos Simos, turning to Ionikos’ family.
“PAE Ionikos announces the mutual agreement to work with coach Giorgos Simos. The coach took over the team at a difficult time, with four tickets fighting to get back on their feet and reach the top of Super League 2, with the only goal being promotion to the first division.
Ionikos’ family feels the need to warmly thank George Simos for the ethics and professionalism he has demonstrated throughout. “Trainers, we wish you health and much personal and professional success,” says the Nice team’s announcement about the end of the collaboration with Simos.
It is noted that after 12 games in the 2nd group of Super League 2, Ionikos is in 6th place and has accumulated 19 points, five less than leaders Athens Kallithea.
