Municipality of Kifissia: “Zirineio for all sports, we are working on the configuration of two new areas dedicated to athletics”
The Municipality of Kifissia issued a statement stating that it will not “evict” AE Kifissia from the Ioannis Zirinis Stadium and that the removal of a corridor offers a solution that appeals to all parties.
The Municipality of Kifissia has announced the problem that has arisen with the “Ioannis Zirinis” stadium and the works in progress, which will see a corridor “removed” from the tartan of the track to allow AE Kifissias to compete in physical headquarters in the Super League 2.
In its announcement, the municipality points out that it does not want to offend any club or sport, so that Kifissia can play in Zirineio, but also classic sports competitions can take place.
The announcement of the municipality of Kifissia in detail:
“The municipality of Kifissia is for sport. For athletics, for football, for the athletes, for the fans.
The Municipal Stadium of Kifissia “Ioannis Zirinis” has been embracing all sports for 70 years, providing them with the necessary infrastructure for their cultivation and development.
A letter from Super League 2 informed the community that our Athletic Union of Kifissia football team can play in a stadium that is at least 100 x 64 in accordance with UEFA Stadium Safety and Security Regulations.
And while up to three (3) lanes would have to be eliminated, which is almost unthinkable for our community, the restriction to just one corridor makes for a 99.50 x 63.50 natural grass field without seat belts.
With a full sense of responsibility, we have moved to a solution that provides functionality in classic sports, even games and the participation of our football team, in the A2 National Division Championship, in their historical headquarters.
We would never do wrong to athletics, which we support in many ways. We would never do football injustice. Just as we do not identify our child in our home because they have grown up and need space, so in another city we would not give our team to the Athletic Union of Kifissia. We want families with children to enjoy it in our city.
We don’t want to create an internal civil war. We are legally relocating and working on the phased configuration of two new athletics areas“.
