AEL, Xanthi, Iraklis and eight others of Super League 2 have not obtained a first degree licence
The files of 28 Super League 2 PAE were reviewed and 11 Category 2 teams were unlicensed including AEL, Xanthi and Iraklis.
The EPA’s primary licensing body reviewed the files of 28 Super League 2 PAE. In the first instance, Apollon, Thesprotos, Ergotelis, OFI, Episkopi, Apollon Larissa, AEL, Xanthi, Almopos, Iraklis and Herodotus were not licensed.
Also, for the second category, the teams that were relegated to the Third National were eliminated: Olympiakos Volou, Karaiskakis Arta, Pierikos, Kavala, Trikala and Zakynthos.
PAEs who do not appeal or are rejected in a second instance are punished with a fine of 10,000 euros and are not allowed to take any players over 25 except for three. They can accommodate unlimited Greeks and foreigners under the age of 23.
The EPO’s announcement in detail:
“The Hellenic Football Federation’s primary licensing body, during its two-day meeting, reviewed the files of 28 Super League 2 PAE and made the following decisions:
Awards Super League 1 license for the period 2022-23 to the following PAE: EGALEO, KALAMATA, KISSAMIKOS, LEVADIAKOS, KARDITSA RENAISSANCE, KALLITHEA and VERIA.
Awards Super League 2 license for the period 2022-23 to the following PAE: PANSERRAIKOS, NIKI VOLOU, KIFISSIA and ASTERAS VLACHIOTI.
Does not issue a Super League 2 license for the period 2022-23 to the following PAE: OLYMPIAKOS VOLOS, APOLLON PONTOU, KARAISKAKIS ARTAS, THESPROTOS, PIERIKOS, ERGOTELIS, OF IERAPETRAS, EPIS, APSAPA, TRIKALA, HERODOTOS and ZAKYNTHOS.
The above refusal decisions may be appealed within three business days of being notified.”
