The EPO Professional Football Committee voted to directly promote two from Super League 2 and drop two from Super League.

The EPO Professional Football Committee met on Friday (7/22) and voted to promote two teams directly from Super League 2 and remove two from the Super League. This proposal was accepted with 8:5 votes.

In practice, this means that teams 13 and 14 are relegated directly from the top division and are automatically promoted Champions of the two groups of the second division.

Of course, a third team can also claim promotion, since the 12th in Super League 2 will see a double play-off with a team from Super League and logic says it will be one of the runners-up of the two groups, which remains to be clarified.

We remind you that last season the last was relegated and the 13th was a promotion/remainder playoff, with the winner of Super League 2 being a playoff between the first two groups. This vote now has to be approved by the Executive Committee of the EPO. Something that seems to be fading with form, however, as reports say two teams (the champions of each group) are the most likely to be approved for promotion.

In essence, the Hellenic Football Federation takes over the announcement of Super League 2, which takes place on July 18 decided in its own announcement to provide for the promotion of two plus one (2+1) teams in the upcoming championship, but also the relegation of four teams from each group.

On the contrary, five days before, on July 13 to be precise, the Major Division Board of Directors had unanimously approved the announcement of the championship for the 2022-23 season. The top six of the regular season would go to the playoffs, the last would be relegated and the penultimate would play with Super League 2 runners-up.
