Playoffs finally over: Two relegated from Super League 1 and two promoted from Super League 2
We had new dates for the Super League from the EPO Executive Committee, which took place on Friday afternoon when it was decided that there will be no more playoffs and that two teams from Super League 1 will be relegated and two teams from Super League 2 will be promoted It happened also Bennett.
The Executive Committee of the EPO made the final and final decision on Friday afternoon (7/22) to relegate two teams from Super League 1 and two to be promoted from Super League 2 and not have a playoff for the 3rd ticket as originally had the EPA Committee opted for professional football on Friday afternoon.
This now means that the bottom two, 13th and 14th, are directly relegated from the top division, while the champions of the two Super League 2 groups are promoted directly.
The proposal for the new chief referee Stefan Bennett was also accepted with 11 votes.
The relevant notice from the EPO states:
“The Executive Committee of the Hellenic Football Union met again to take decisions on the recommendations of the Professional Football Committee. The following decisions have been made.
· Ratified by 11 votes in favour, 2 against and 1 abstention, the recommendation of the Association’s Professional Football Committee to appoint Mr Stephen Bennett as President of the Central Referees Committee for the next two seasons. Earlier, the EEP accepted by 8 votes in favour, 3 against and 2 abstentions the proposal of its President and EPO President Mr. Panagiotis Baltakou to appoint Mr. Bennett as President of the KED.
· With regard to promotion and relegation to Super League 1 and Super League 2 for the period 2022-2023, the EU has decided by 9 votes in favor and 5 against that two teams will be relegated from SL1 and two teams from SL2 rise, the masters of the two groups.
· Confirmed the unanimous approval by the EEP of the Regulations for Football Matches and the Regulations of the B’ Groups, with the comments discussed and agreed. It also confirmed the EEP’s unanimous approval of the regulations for match observers, EPO football coaches, the operation of the coaching school and the staging of developmental age games.
· Confirmed the EEP’s unanimous approval of the Greek Cup announcement for the periods 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 with the comments discussed and agreed. The dates and phases of the cup for the 2022-2023 season are as follows:
1st PHASE (08/31/2022) Cup winner teams of the EPS
2nd PHASE (09/11/2022) Cup winner teams of the EPS
3rd PHASE (09/21/2022) Cup winner teams of the EPS & Super League 2 teams.
4th PHASE (October 5th, 2022) Cup winner teams of the EPS & Super League 2 teams
.5TH PHASE: (18-20/10/2022) EPS Cup winners, Super League 2 teams & 10 Super League 1 teams (except Ari-Olympiakou-PAOK-Panathinaikos).
6. PHASE 1st Competition (15-16/12/2022) 2nd Competition (10-12/01/2023) Greek League Cup Winners Teams, Super League2 & Super League Teams and Participation of Ari-Olympiakou-PAOK-Panathinaikos.
7. PHASE 1st competition (17th – 19th January 2023) 2nd competition (24th – 26th January 2023).
8. PHASE 1st competition (02/07/2023 – 02/09/2023) 2nd competition (02/28/2023 – 03/02/2023).
Earlier, the EEP unanimously approved the 2022-2023 Super League 1 Annual Summary Plan.”

Dimitris Spanos returned to Ionian
Dimitris Spanos returns home, as is typical in Ionikos’ announcement, and he is the successor to Giorgos Simos in the Nice team.
An old acquaintance is the successor to Giorgos Simos on the Ionian bench and in the Nice team’s attempt to return to the Stoiximan Super League.
The reason for this was Dimitris Spanos, who sat on the team’s bench and made it to the first division in 2020 after 14 years.

The biography of Dimitris Spanos
Dimitris Spanos was born on July 13, 1969 in Aigio. As a footballer, he played in the 1st national team of Ionikos, in the 2nd national team of Atromito and Paneiyalio and in the 3rd national team of Byzantium Megaron and Anagennisi Artas.
His coaching career began in 2005 when he took over the technical management of Anagennisi Arta and from then on he began a long and successful career. He worked in: Agia Salamina, Rhodes, Panachaiki, Panegialeio, Aeolian Mytilini, Ermionida Union, Lamia, Apollon Smyrna, Panegialeio, Ari and Corfu. With Aris he even celebrated promotion to the Super League, as he was the coach who led the Thessalonians to the big leagues.
The experienced technician took over the management of Ionikos in the summer of 2020 and celebrated promotion to the first league. In fact, his first season in the Super League was extremely successful as the team finished 7th and achieved a record number of points in the play-outs. “He left as a friend in January 2023 and is returning to take the team back to where it belongs”!

Finally, Simos from the Ionian Bank
Giorgos Simos has left the technical leadership of Ionikos since Wednesday (21/12), with the Nice team’s administration announcing the end of cooperation between the two teams.
Giorgos Simos took over from Ionikos at the start of the season but did not stay at the helm for more than a few months as the Blues’ management announced on Wednesday (21/12) their decision for the two teams to part ways.
“I would like to thank the entire Ionikos family who made me feel like I was a part of it from day one. Of course I would like to thank the players, my partners and the people in the team.”
I wish you all the best, only success and the fulfillment of all your goals”said Giorgos Simos, turning to Ionikos’ family.
“PAE Ionikos announces the mutual agreement to work with coach Giorgos Simos. The coach took over the team at a difficult time, with four tickets fighting to get back on their feet and reach the top of Super League 2, with the only goal being promotion to the first division.
Ionikos’ family feels the need to warmly thank George Simos for the ethics and professionalism he has demonstrated throughout. “Trainers, we wish you health and much personal and professional success,” says the Nice team’s announcement about the end of the collaboration with Simos.
It is noted that after 12 games in the 2nd group of Super League 2, Ionikos is in 6th place and has accumulated 19 points, five less than leaders Athens Kallithea.

Sokratis Ofrydopoulos is Levadeako’s new coach
Levadeiakos found a replacement for Nikos Nioplia in the person of Sokratis Ofrydopoulos when the Boeotians announced the signing of the 50-year-old Greek technician on Tuesday afternoon (December 19).
Time Socrates Ofrydopoulos and officially for Levadeiakos, with the 50-year-old Greek coach sitting on Viiote’s bench for the remainder of Super League 2.
The former AEK B’ coach replaces Nikos Nioplias, who recently terminated his contract with Levadeiakos.
Ofrydopoulos has not been on the bench since the summer of 2023, when his association with AEK’s second team, which he coached in 46 games, ended.

PAE Levadeiakos announces that Sokratis Ofrydopoulos will take over as our team’s new coach.
Sokratis Ofrydopoulos was born on October 26, 1973 and returns to the Levadeiako family after two and a half years, having completed an important journey in Greek football both as a coach and as a player.
He competed on many major league teams for years while working as a coach with Alimos, Lamia (assistant coach) and Atromitos (academy coach). He had two different terms in Panachaiki and also completed Doxa Drama in the previous two years. He was coach of AEK B. In the final of the 2021/22 season he even sat on the bench of AEK’s first team.
His direct partner will be Nikos Karabetakis. Born on May 17, 1971, he served in Iraklis, Doxa Drama, Agrotiko Astera, OFI, Ialyssos and Triglia, while his last stop was Apollon Paralimniou, which he led and achieved to a historic success last year – as a team from the 3rd National – in the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup.
