UEFA President Alexander Ceferin expressed his firm belief that Spain and Portugal will organize the final stages of the 2030 World Cup together.

Spain and Portugal signed a deal two years ago to jointly bid for the 2030 World Cup finals, which marks the centenary of the first tournament in Uruguay, and Aleksandar Ceferin does not hide his optimism that these two countries will be the final Candidate race winner.

“I am sure that the 2030 World Cup will take place in Spain and Portugal. This bid can be won and we will do everything on our part to help two countries that are passionate, that live and breathe for football.” who have very good infrastructures”, stressed the President of the European Football Association on Monday (09 May) via video conference at the start of the “Football Leaks” conference in Lisbon.

A total of 14 stadiums in 12 cities, Spain is bidding to host the Games, while Portugal has proposed three, with the two countries joining forces to bid for a “collective” World Cup, 100 years after the first World Cup had in 1930 at the stadiums of Uruguay took place.

It is noted that in the past Spain had hosted the 1982 World Cup and unsuccessfully won the 2018 World Cup along with Portugal, which in turn hosted the final stages of the European Championship (2004) but never hosted the World Cup.
