Qatar 2022: Bajalo with Castillo, Ecuador threatened with expulsion
In the end, it turned out that the cards used by Byron Castillo were counterfeit and could result in Ecuador being banned from the World Cup in Qatar.
Chile has been proven correct in its claim that Byron Castillo is not from Ecuador but from Colombia.
This is confirmed by the documents brought to light by the “Daily Mail” a few days before the hearing of the case.
Accordingly, Castillo confirmed that he is not actually from Ecuador, but from Colombia. His real name is Bairo Javier Castillo Segura and not Byron David Castillo Segura while he was born in Tumaco, Colombia.
From there he went to San Lorenzo, Ecuador, where a businessman gave him a new identity so he could compete. At the same time, even his date of birth is wrong, since he was born in 1995 and not 1998 as stated.
The trial of the case is set for September 15 and of course the decision that will be made will be awaited with great interest as Chile lurks to take Ecuador’s place at the World Cup.
And all while Ecuador play against Qatar in the opening match on November 20th.
