Sentra early August: What will become of the Super League Interwetten
The World Cup in Qatar creates a problem in the national championship calendar. Most major European leagues start earlier. What applies to the Super League Interwetten.
We are in the middle of this season but there are already thoughts for the next one. The reason; The World Cup in Qatar, which for the first time in history will not be held in summer but at the end of the year in the “heart” of the domestic championships. This has been a well-known fact for the past few years, but is causing European leagues to update their calendar for the 2022/2023 season.
The World Cup in Qatar begins on November 21st, with the final taking place on December 18th. Of course, the tournaments will be stopped a little earlier so that players can be integrated into their country’s missions. To accommodate the dates, the major leagues are either starting earlier or making changes.
What will happen in the five big leagues
Let’s start with the Premier League. The 2022/23 season starts on August 6th, a week earlier than this year (August 13th). It will conclude on May 28, a week later than this year (May 22). In addition, the tournament ends on November 13th and will continue on Boxing Day after the final in Qatar.
La Liga is expected to tick on August 12, 2022, meaning it won’t start any earlier than this year, but according to Marca it will be completed in June, a month later than we’re used to. Everything indicates that the Spaniards will finish their championship like the English (November 13) a week before the World Cup.
The Bundesliga starts a week earlier. Specifically, the championship begins on August 5th and ends on May 27th. The German league will be suspended for the World Cup on November 13, while it will start again after about two months, i.e. on January 20, 2023.
Ligue 1 will make a cross on August 6, which happened again this year. This year’s championship ends on May 21, but next season will be postponed. This will take place on June 4th. The break, like the other leagues, takes place on November 13, while the French have their own Boxing Day with games on December 28 and January 1.
There is no final decision for Serie A yet, but everything indicates that the Italians will also start a week earlier, on August 13. We don’t yet know when it will be ready, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the most realistic scenario is that it will end on June 4th. The World Cup seems to have given up a puzzle in some leagues that needs to be solved.
What will happen in the Super League Interwetten
A dominant question is what will happen in our championship. So far there is no discussion as to when the new Super League Interwetten season will start as there will be a break for the Qatar World Cup in November and December.
It is not excluded that the Greek championship will start normally, i.e. mid or late August, and some other adjustments will be made mid-season. It’s something the league folks will definitely be discussing to decide what form will be in the 2022/23 calendar.
Remember that this year’s Super League Interwetten was scheduled to start on August 21st and 22nd. However, there were delays because of the problem with the TVs and finally we had crosses on 9/11.
