Ecuador usually plays at the World Cup, FIFA dismisses Chile and Peru’s appeals in the Castillo case
FIFA dismissed the objections of the national team of Chile and the national team of Peru demanding Ecuador’s ban from the 2022 World Cup on the grounds that they had used Byron Castillo, who was ineligible to play in the tournament’s qualifiers.
The case with FIFA had a happy ending for Ecuador and will therefore normally take part in the 2022 World Cup, which begins on November 20 in Qatar.
FIFA rejected her appeal his football association Chile, but also by Peru, which appealed against it and asked for the tournament to be excluded from the organization.
In particular, the federations argued that the Ecuador national team fielded a footballer who did not have the right to participate in the 2022 World Cup qualifiersince he was not born in Ecuador and has a different date of birth.
The complaint states that the Byron Castillo from Barcelona, Ecuador has Colombia as his place of birth and his actual date of birth according to his records is July 25, 1995, not November 10, 1998.
Now the case is considered closed and there is no risk for Ecuador’s presence at the World Cup.
