Journalist: “How cool will the World Cup match in Mariupol or Donetsk be”
Ukrainian journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky He shared the details of Ukraine’s participation in Portugal and Spain hosting the 2030 World Cup:
“There is a purely political subtext here. We don’t know what will happen in 2030, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Will we have a country? A very useful team to Spain and Portugal. This story is for everyone. They’re strengthening their bid, it seems more politically sound.
This issue was finally discussed in the Presidential Office, and especially the day Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Oleksandr Čeferin about tougher sanctions to keep Russia out of the draw. It’s like we have the “Blessing of the Shepherd” and in this case it’s very important. I think Spain and Portugal along with Ukraine understand that this is a more global story. Even if we have a match, even if Ukraine participates in the World Cup without a qualifying round, I agree. Maybe this is our only chance.
Again, a certain amount of attention is drawn to the events in Ukraine. Why is it important to do this? People get used to everything. It is very necessary to pay attention to such events and take certain investments. How cool will the World Cup match look in the reconstructed Mariupol or the Donbass Arena in Donetsk.”
It should be noted that earlier Ukraine participated in the application of Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup.
