Messi’s special clause allowing him to be released from Paris commitments due to Argentina
Lionel Messi has a special clause in his contract with Paris Saint-Germain which stipulates that the Argentina national team has priority ahead of the World Cup, allowing him to be released from the team’s obligations whenever deemed necessary.
Lionel Messi will take part in the last World Cup of his career in Qatar and in order to prepare properly he reportedly asked for a week’s leave from Paris, a message later denied by those close to him.
However, according to Argentina’s TN, there is a special clause in the Parisian star’s contract which stipulates that the national team has absolute priority over Paris ahead of the World Cup.
That means Messi can be released from his duties at the Parisians if he so desires, whether it’s in preparation or a friendly.
The publication even mentions that the Argentine planned to be in Qatar on November 7, the day after the Lorient game.
As such, he will not feature in the Parisians’ last game before the break against Auxerre on November 13.
