A PHOTO. Germany protests before Japan match
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is already remembered for scandals related to the country hosting the tournament: it was widely criticized for violating human rights.
At the same time, FIFA is doing everything possible to ensure that there is as little criticism as possible against the organizers. Tournament participants are prohibited from criticizing the organizers or even expressing their protest using symbols – for example, captain armbands with the inscription “One love”.
But the German national team still found a way to express their protest. Bundestim players show issues with freedom of expression during the tournament in a photo of the team covering their mouths with their hands before the start of the match against Japan:
