Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni commented on the match played against the Mexican team in the 2nd week of the 2022 World Cup group stage, which led Lionel Messi and Co. to a 2-0 victory.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game, so Mexico played a different kind of football than before. We suspected they could play with five defensive lines.

The first one there failed for everyone. We made adjustments at halftime and started to play better in the midfield in the second half. Then Lionel Messi determined the fate of the match. He knows he has a team behind him supporting him.

The Mexicans had good pressure, played their own football. We saw an improvement in the early second half with Guido Rodriguez and Enzo Fernandez coming into the game. We played different, more aggressive in the second half. It was difficult to play football, the opponent had five defenders and four midfielders,” Scaloni said.

In the third round of the 2022 World Cup, the Argentina national team will face the Polish team on 30 November.
