The supercomputer predicted the winners of the 1/4 finals of the World Cup
The FiveThirtyEight supercomputer gave a prediction for the quarterfinals. The computer uses the Football Strength Index, which reflects the strength of the teams offensively and defensively, as the basis for its predictions. In the 1/8 finals, the machine correctly predicted seven out of eight match results. I just made a mistake in the match between Spain and Morocco.
According to the supercomputer, the odds of England and France are 48% versus 52%. In the Netherlands – Argentina pair: 58% to 42% in favor of Hispanics.
But of the other two pairs, FiveThirtyEight sees a clear favorite. Brazil has a 77% chance against 23% of its opponent in the Croatia match, and Portugal has a 68% (32%) chance of making it to the final in the match against Morocco.
