Crazy records already broken at the 2022 World Cup
The group matches of the World Cup held in Qatar have come to an end.
Today, all the participants of the quarterfinals will finally be determined. During this time, numerous records have been broken, which I propose to discuss today.
Qatar became the first World Cup host nation to lose in the opening match of the tournament.
Qatar lost 2-0 to Ecuador in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup. After losing to Senegal (1:3) and the Netherlands (0:2), the Qataris became the first host nation to never score in the group stage, and also broke the record for goals conceded at this stage – 7.
For the first time in history, the first goal in a World Cup has been scored from a penalty.

As a result, for the entire match, the teams spent 117 minutes and 16 seconds on the field. The previous record was set during the 1994 World Cup match between South Korea and Bolivia (103:56).
Mehdi Taremi scores the last goal of the World Cup
The striker of the Iranian national team turned the penalty in the 103rd minute of the match against England. This goal will be remembered as the last goal in the World Cup. However, Taremi’s goal did not help Iran – the match ended with a score of 2:6.
Poland became the first national team in history to not score three penalties in a row.

The Serbs interrupted the match played with Cameroon and defeated their opponent 2-1. Strahinja Pavlovich and Sergei Milinkovic-Savic scored in the 45+1 and 45+3 minutes, respectively. Serbian national team finished the game in a 3:3 draw.
Brazil became the first team to be undefeated in 17 consecutive World Cup group stage matches.
In the group stage, they defeated five-time world champions Serbia (2:0) and Switzerland (1:0), but lost to Cameroon (0:1), breaking their successful undefeated streak.
Stephanie Frappart becomes the first woman to be the chief referee at a men’s World Cup.
The French woman officiated the Costa Rica v Germany match, which took place on 1 December and ended with the Germans’ victory (4:2). Frappart has shown a yellow card.

The Moroccans scored seven points in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup. This has not been possible for any African team.
Manuel Neuer breaks World Cup goalkeeping record
The goalkeeper of the German national team played 19 times in the world championships. The last meeting so far was with Costa Rica. On this indicator, Neuer surpassed Claudio Taffarela (18), Sepp Mayer (18), Peter Shilton (17), Iker Casillas (17), Dino Zoff (17) and Fabien Barthez (17).
