Virgil VAN DYJK: “I have a feeling we can win the World Cup”
The key defender of the Netherlands national team, Virgil van Dijk, shared his expectations for the 2022 World Cup quarter-final match against Argentina (December 9):
“There’s hunger, dreams and a feeling that we can really win the Cup here. You’re only three games away from victory when you reach the quarterfinals. This is our opportunity. But of course first we have to beat the Argentine team with one of the greatest players of all time.
Possible penalty shootout? We’ve been training since the last meeting of our team, but that doesn’t guarantee that in a game where you play in a stadium full of 80,000 people and it’s about the semi-finals, everything will be like in training. We are trying our best to be ready for this. But hopefully we don’t get to that stage.”
