World Cup
The Spanish team returned to Madrid with 14 players, the other 12 stayed in Qatar for a holiday
The exclusion of Morocco in the “16” of the World Cup forced Spain to pack for… Madrid, but the delegation that returned home had only 14 players as the rest wanted to vacation in Qatar.
Spain traveled to Qatar with many dreams and high ambitions after reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and the final of the recent Nations League, but the journey didn’t last long as Morocco eliminated the wild Rocha in the last 16 of the World Cup.Cup and get the ticket for the round of 16 against Portugal.
What is impressive, however, is that compared to the delegation that traveled to Doha in November, the one that returned to Madrid on Wednesday afternoon (07/12) was much smaller.
The reason for a long-standing agreement with the Spain internationals, who have joined forces with the country’s football federation, is that should some of them fail to make it to the final games they could have a few more days of rest near Doha.
As Marca mentions in their report, only 14 players from the Spanish national team with Luis Enrique were on the return flight, namely: Sarabia, Balde, Laporte, Gavi, Busquets, Pau Torres, Ferran Torres, Olmo, Simon, Pino, Pedri, Fati, Nico Williams and Raya.
