Morata: “The dream ended painfully, we are the most hurt”
Alvaro Morata didn’t hide behind his finger and admitted Spain’s run at the World Cup didn’t live up to expectations, with the Atletico striker apologizing for the harrowing suspension via an Instagram post.
It has been 24 hours since the defeat by Morocco on penalties and a few hours since the Spanish team returned home (14 players returned, 12 stayed in Qatar), but the bitterness of elimination in the round of 16 of the World Cup has the mouth of Alvaro Morata not yet left.
The Atletico striker even wanted to express his feelings through a post on social media, stressing that the players are the ones who suffer the most as attending a final stage of the World Cup is a special event.
“The dream of participating in the World Cup ended earlier than expected and in a painful way. We are particularly saddened by the millions of fans who have supported us, be it in Qatar or in Spain.
And for our families who are always in a difficult situation. We’re hurt the most because it’s special to play in a World Cup and it’s hard to say goodbye.
We gave everything to make our country happy, but it is clear that things have not gone as we would have liked. Thank you all for your support”Significantly, he wrote on Wednesday afternoon (December 7th) on his personal Instagram account.
