World Cup
Portugal authored one of the biggest wins in the World Cup playoffs
With a 6-1 defeat to Switzerland, Portugal became the author of one of the biggest play-off wins in World Cup history. Only four teams won the qualifiers by a wide margin, including Italy in the round of 16 against the United States at the 1934 World Cup. And in the fights between European teams with a margin of 5 goals, only Germany won in the “Olympic” in the semi-final duel with Austria at the 1954 World Cup.
