“Best group stage ever!” FIFA President talks about World Cup standings
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that the 2022 World Cup matches held in Qatar were watched by more than two billion people around the world. The official hopes the figure will rise to 5 billion by the end of the tournament.
“I watched all the matches, so I can honestly say that this was the best group stage in World Cup history! And the record for television ratings – more than two billion viewers.
“It’s an amazing achievement and I’m sure it will be 5 billion by the end of the World Cup.”
“As for the stadiums, all tickets are sold out, almost every match is sold out. The fan zones are full, people are having fun by attending this show.”
“This is what should happen at the World Cup,” Infantino said.
The 2022 World Cup is under fire for hosting Qatar, which has faced significant human rights issues and a host of other organizational challenges.
