World Cup
OFFICIALLY. Eden Hazard, 31, has retired from the Belgium national team.
Real Madrid midfielder Eden Hazard has announced his retirement from the Belgium national team after an unsuccessful World Cup.
The 31-year-old has decided that the national team needs a roster update and will therefore not assist in the national team’s qualifiers for Euro 2024 and beyond.
Hazard made 126 appearances for the Belgium national team and scored 33 goals. The biggest success of the team under Hazard was the third place in the 2018 World Cup.
Eden is the 4th in the history of the national team in the number of matches and the second in the number of goals.
The Belgian team failed to qualify from the group at the 2022 World Cup. It was reported that there were many conflicts in the team and mentor Roberto Martinez left the team at the end of the tournament.
