Olivier Giroud: I knew I would have a chance to score
French forward Olivier Giroud He commented on his team’s victory in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup against England:
“It’s exciting. We did a great job on defense, it reminds me a bit of the game we played against Belgium in 2018. But here we were given a penalty but still very dangerous offensively.
I knew I would have a chance to score. Griezmann gave me a great ball. Great for the team. This match was very important, we knew England’s potential. We played a very self-sacrificing, very solid match.
We tried to be dangerous in counter attacks. We were mentally prepared for it. I’m proud of our team, I hope we do our best.”
Note that the match between France and England ended with a score of 2: 1 in favor of the French, and the best player of the match was Giroud.
