FIFA is happy with the winter World Cup. can repeat
Arsene Wenger, director of FIFA’s development department, said that the first winter world championship in Qatar was justified, so in the future the World Cup can be held again in November-December.
At the same time, Wenger agrees that player injuries and an overly busy schedule remain a problem.
“If we want more democracy in football, we have to go back to arranging the World Cup in Africa, where it won’t be possible to play in June or July. We see that the winter version of the World Cup works.”
“Of course there are problems with injuries, with preparation for the tournament. But the teams and players at least have a psychological freshness because it happened after a tough season before the World Cup,” he said.
The next World Championships will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico in the summer of 2026.
