Gareth SOUTHGATE: We believed we could win the World Cup
England head coach Gareth South Gate He shared his impressions after the quarter-finals (1:2) played against France in the 2022 World Cup.
“The game really lived up to expectations. After all, goals are very important. I told the players that they couldn’t give more. I’m proud of how they beat the tournament.
Is it a referee job? It’s pointless to go into that. I prefer to talk about our players. Congratulations France. I think we can do more.
For me, we win and lose as a team. We conceded two goals and missed chances. Harry Kane was incredible to us, very reliable. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the goals he scored.
The most brutal ones were key moments. We were in the right place at the most important moments. We came here to win the tournament – we believed we could win. We have a team that can do this.
My future in the national team? After each tournament we sat down, analyzed and thought. So we need some time to make sure everyone is making the right decisions,” Southgate said.
