“I can’t believe we came out of Argentina on penalties at this stage. I can’t say why everything went wrong for the Dutch team. But it happens with other teams too. After such a result, you try to console everyone on the field.
I’m just so proud of these guys: everyone who took the responsibility of taking the penalty, who took the field, how everyone worked in training … We are proud of each other and we can continue from here. But we are very upset because we thought we could do better,” Depay said.
Defeating the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, the Argentina national team will face Croatia in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals on 13 December.
