Enrique: ‘Pedri is full of magic like Harry Potter, I want Argentina to have it because of Messi’
Luis Enrique has been a guest on a Spanish web show and revealed his plans ahead of the new season, while making a special mention of Pedri and expressing his wish for the World Cup win through… Messi.
At Euro 2020, Spain’s performance came within a hair’s breadth of reaching the final, but things didn’t go as Luis Enrique expected at the World Cup and Morocco’s knockout round round of 16 sent both Rocha and their coach home in anger.
However, he has no regrets about his decisions and made it clear by his presence on a Spanish online show, with the now former Iberians selector claiming he only regrets one of the 26 players in the team.
“Of the 26 players I took at the World Cup, I would leave one out and take another. Now I can say it, although I won’t say who I would fire and who I would replace.
He wasn’t what I expected from a player I took with me on the mission.”emphasized Enrique, who did not miss the opportunity to idolize Pedri:
“The player who surprised me the most at the World Cup was Pedri. He’s full of magic like Harry Potter. He does everything right. He’s very similar to Iniesta.”was his comment.
Regarding the next step in his career, he made it clear that he would like to get back into action on a collective level from the start of the new competitive season in the summer of 2023. When asked what he would like to see in the World Cup final, he was clear:
“I don’t want a repeat of the final between France and Croatia. I want Argentina to win the trophy for Messi and what this player means to football.”
