Messi: ‘After losing to Saudi Arabia I asked the world to trust us’
Lionel Messi made statements with a smile after Argentina qualified for the 2022 World Cup final, praising the national team and Julián Alvarez.
Lionel Messi was much calmer in his statements after Argentina’s win over Croatia and qualification for the 2022 World Cup final.
The Argentina striker spoke to TyC Sports’ camera again, but this time he praised his teammates, singled out Julián Alvarez and spoke about reaching the final.
“The truth is that a lot of things went through our minds, like reaching the last game, which is what we were aiming for. I enjoyed it for a while. Tonight Julian stood above everyone. He paved the way for us , he fought, he ran, he fought everyone, he scored and he’s very important for the World Cup and he deserved it.
“After the first game and losing to Saudi Arabia, I asked people to trust us because we knew what we were capable of. Argentina will play in another World Cup final. We have to enjoy it. I’m thinking about it my family.” as i always say, is the best for me. The most important thing is that he is always with me. We had difficult times, good ones and now I have to live an impressive life and entertain the people here and in Argentina who must have gone crazy”
“I don’t know if it’s my best World Cup, but I’m enjoying it a lot from the start. This group of players is clear. We leave everything on the field in every game and fight to the utmost. In the final we will give everything to win.”
