France became the first team to reach the World Cup final twice in 20 years.

The French team reached the final by beating Morocco 2-0 in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup today and reached the final in the match they will play with Argentina on 18 December. The French team became the first team to reach two consecutive World Cup finals since 2002. Then Brazil did.

Altogether, France became the sixth team in history to reach the World Cup final twice in a row. Italy (1934 and 1938), Brazil (1958 and 1962), the Netherlands (1974 and 1978) and Argentina (1986 and 1990) had previously been successful. Only Germany (1982, 1986 and 1990) and Brazil (1994, 1998 and 2002) managed to reach three consecutive World Cup finals.

France may be the third team in history to win two World Cups in a row. Italy succeeded in 1934 and 1938, Brazil in 1958 and 1962.
