World Cup 2022, France: Tswameni and Kolo Mouani deactivate their social media accounts because of racist messages
Aurélien Chouameny and Radal Colo Mouani were attacked by racists after the 2022 World Cup final and France’s defeat by Argentina, prompting them to disable their social media accounts.
Aurélien Tsoumaeni failed to save from a penalty, Radal Kolo Muani had a four-goal in the last few minutes and, beyond the mental strain of their competitive exploits in the 2022 World Cup final, they have also faced racist reactions.
The two France internationals received multiple racist messages on social media following France’s penalty shootout defeat by Argentina, prompting them to deactivate their accounts.
The situation is reminiscent of the Euro 2020 final, when England players who failed to take the last penalty against Italy, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bucayo Saka, received racist attacks online.
