More money. Infantino wants to hold World Cup every 3 years
FIFA President Gianni Infantino He was impressed with the 2022 World Cup organization and wants to host the tournament every three years.
After the 2022 World Cup, Infantino reportedly wanted Mundial to be done more often – every three years but changes are not possible before the 2030 World Cup.
It is known that many would not support such an idea, but Africa and Asia are just for that.
UEFA and CONMEBOL have teamed up to reject an offer to host the World Cup in this format.
The fact is that at the 2022 World Cup, the revenue record was broken. FIFA received £6.2 billion, £840 million more than at the end of the 2018 World Cup.
For this reason, Infantino aims to change the current format of the tournament. If the World Cup is held every 3 years, in the years between Mundials there will be a clubs world championship and continental tournaments in which 32 teams will take part from 2025. Meanwhile, La Liga representatives did not like the idea of organizing a Club World Cup with the participation of 32 teams.
