World Cup
World Cup in Qatar becomes most productive since 1994
At the World Cup in Qatar, teams scored 172 goals together in 64 matches (averaging 2.69 goals per game). That’s one more ball than the previous World Cup record set at the 1998 and 2014 World Cups, and the highest record for average performance since 1994. France 16, Argentina 15, England 13, Portugal 12 and the Netherlands 10 goals.
At the same time, football players from Belgium, Denmark, Qatar, Tunisia and Wales made their fans happy for once. 67 goals (39.0%) were scored in the first half, 101 (58.7%) – in the second half (Kylian Mbappe’s first goal in the final was his centennial), 4 (2.3%) – in extra time. From the 31st minute to the 45th minute and from the 61st minute to the 75th minute, the sections where the ball touched the nets 31 times were the most productive.
