The World Cup final in Qatar on December 18 between France and Argentina and Greece’s Eurobasket match against rivals Germany saw the highest attendances of 2022 with official data from AGB Nielsen. The top 5 only had sporting events and one from the Eurovision final.
1. Argentina – France (World Cup)
The World Cup final between Argentina and France was undoubtedly the sporting event of the year. The match between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe was talked about like few events in 2022 and TV ratings exploded. AGB metrics on 18th December for Ant1’s broadcast of the game showed an average of 62.8% and a total of 2,702,000 viewers.
2. Greece – Germany (Eurobasket)
The progress of the national basketball team in Eurobasket 2022 caught the interest of TV viewers in Greece as everyone wanted to see Giannis Antetokounmpo and his company. The match between Greece and Germany on September 13, despite Greece’s defeat, drew 2,198,000 viewers and a 51.2% audience rating for ERT.
3. Eurovision Final
