The Uruguay team failed to make it out of the group stage for the playoffs. He beat Ghana 2-0 in the final, but had to score at least one more goal to get ahead of the South Korean team in the end. According to the claim of the Uruguayan national team players, the referee did not assign a penalty kick to the African team at the end of the match.

After the final whistle, Cavani kicked the VAR monitor and Jiménez accidentally hit the FIFA representative. They asked for an explanation from the Uruguayan Football Federation from Zurich, where FIFA’s headquarters is located. The final decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee will not be known until the end of February.

According to the penalty options available, Cavani and Jimenez could be banned from the national team for 10-15 matches or suspended for the same period at their club – Cavani for Valencia and Jimenez for Atlético.
