Pavel Onisko, former forward of Karpaty, Vorskla, Mariupol, Obolon, Lviv and other teams, talked about how watching the 2022 World Cup final, along with other soldiers, helped him improve his moral and physical condition.

“When I was at the front, this incomprehensible world championship was going on in the winter. He followed the results, but looked and forgot how interesting the movie was. And after the bullet shock, in a quiet place, I watched the only match in the entire World Cup, the final. The four of us watched it. With friends. We sat at the computer.

I’ve always been by Messi’s side since he played for Barcelona. 2:0 after the first half. We went out for a cigarette break, we sat down and someone said: “It would be great if France drew, there was overtime and then there was another goal and another penalty. And for Argentina to win.” We predicted everything, but no one bet.

We were very tired mentally and physically, but we watched this finale and got high. Football was somewhat superficial throughout the entire war period. And here they got really high from football. The finale was simply superb, one of the best in years,” Onisko said.

Argentina beat France 3-3, beating France 4-2 on penalties.
