FIFA throws Russia out of the World Cup
FIFA is in advanced talks about excluding the Russian national team from the World Cup playoffs due to the military invasion of Ukraine.
FIFA is preparing to ban Russia from international competitions after the military invasion of Ukraine and the escalation of attacks there.
In fact, the ban is expected to take effect immediately, meaning the Russian citizen will lose the opportunity to get a ticket to the World Cup.
FIFA is working closely with UEFA to decide later today what to do with Russia, Spartak Moscow, the Gazprom issue, but also the participation of the women’s team in the Euro, since Sweden, England and Switzerland.
It is reminded that on March 24, Russia will play Poland in the semi-finals of World Cup qualifiers and, according to yesterday’s announcement, would play as “Russia’s football union”.
In the event of exclusion, Poland will go straight to the playoff final and will meet the winner of the doubles match Sweden-Czech Republic on March 29.
