The Ukrainians officially requested the postponement of the draw with Scotland
The Russian military invasion prompted the people of the Football Union of Ukraine to call for the postponement of the game with Scotland for the World Cup playoffs scheduled for March 24.
Ukraine and Scotland will meet at Glasgow’s Habten Park on March 24 en route to the World Cup final (playoffs) in Qatar, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine since the early hours of last Thursday has rattled the world data.
The result is a request from the Football Union of Ukraine to postpone the game between the two national teams to another date in 2022.
A move that was more or less expected given that Ukrainian football at home is on hold until March 26 and several members of the squad have enlisted in the army while all males aged 18-60 are in the country and this required by law is not allowed to leave.
According to international media, it is more than certain that there will be a response and acceptance of the Scots’ request provided FIFA gives the green light for the game to be played on another date.
