Greece’s candidacy for the 2030 World Cup has not been submitted, and contacts with the co-organization are ongoing

Morocco has announced it is joining Spain and Portugal’s joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. Greece is still in talks with Saudi Arabia and Egypt on a joint bid.
The announcement of Morocco’s inclusion in Spain’s co-candidacy with Portugal and taking over the 2030 World Cup brought contacts back to the fore for a corresponding move by Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece.
Our country has long been in early-stage talks with the other two about the possibility of a candidacy, but nothing changed on Tuesday after Morocco’s move.
With a letter from the king of the African country, Mohammed VI, Morocco joins Spain and Portugal in the joint candidacy, replacing Ukraine, which would initially cooperate with the countries of the Iberian Peninsula.
Our country remains in touch to consider a joint candidacy with Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and indeed the president of the African Football Confederation has confirmed the latter’s intention. “I am delighted with Morocco’s candidacy. Egypt is also signaling that it will apply.” said Patrice Motsepe, among others.
Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay announced a joint bid for the tournament on February 7 and are the only bids announced to host the tournament so far.
FIFA will decide which candidate wins at its 74th Congress in 2024, two years before the next World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Italy v South Korea 2002, referee Byron Moreno attacked after new whistles

The famous Italy v South Korea 2002 World Cup referee Byron Moreno was attacked for his whistle at an amateur game in Ecuador.
The referee’s name Byron Moreno was written in the blackest colors of football history following his decisions in the 2002 World Cup round of 16 match between Italy and South Korea that led to the co-hosts’ qualification and unfair exclusion “squadra achura”.
The Ecuadorian referee retired in 2003 (and after several suspensions) but his whistles continued to cause tension in his face.
The 53-year-old was officiating an amateur league game in Guayaquil, where he lives, but after the game ended, a player pushed him from behind and threw him to the ground.
The rest of the players stepped in and prevented the worst for Moreno, who in recent years has been arrested in New York for possession of six kilograms of heroin, opened an academy for young referees and caused controversy on Ecuadorian television in the domestic league.
