Hut: “Let’s leave Guardiola’s model and favor Klopp’s
Fabio Capello argued that Italy’s ban from the World Cup was a matter of choosing the wrong model between Pep Guardiola’s and Jurgen Klopp’s.
THE Fabio Hat spoke to SkySport24 about Italy’s defeat by North Macedonia and their second World Cup qualifier in a row.
The veteran coach referred to the general model that Italy follows in football and, in his opinion, it is Pep Guardiola’s while it should be Jurgen Klopp’s.
“The explanation is very simple. I’ve been saying for a long time that we’ve been copying Pep Guardiola’s football since he was 15: you pass next to him, you fall on the ground with every tackle and even like a mediocre team North Macedonia was superior to us. Until we understand that the model that we have to copy is Jürgen Klopp’s, so the German model, the Spanish model, we will never be able to copy it completely. “Italy is Atalanta and that’s why it went to Europe.”
“Then there are many other things. The academies, the many foreigners. But the real problem remains the tactics. Can a footballer who comes to Italy cause an earthquake while before that he was just a good player? I’m referring me to the various Tami Ibrahim, Romelou Loukakou, Victor Osimen”.
“I already see coaches changing their philosophy and I look at Vicenzo Italiano (Fiorentina) and Alexandre Blessin (Genoa). But we only change when we shake hands: from the referees to the players, from the coaches to the academies.The only observation I notice in this national team is that after Euros I don’t see the same determination and humility that I used to see, we have forgotten the values that have brought us to the top of Europe.
