Money from Apple and Adidas, 2026 World Cup plans. Why did Messi choose Miami?
According to The Athletic, it wasn’t so easy for MLS club Inter Miami to process Lionel Messi’s transfer because the league has its own salary rules and other financial constraints.
But MLS leadership was interested in the transition, so Messi will not only receive a salary from the club, but also cuts from his major league contract with giant Apple. In 2023, the parties signed a 10-year contract worth $2.5 billion to show MLS matches at Apple.
Messi must attract a new audience and a large number of subscriptions, and in return he will receive a certain percentage of the amount.
In addition, Lionel expects a similar deal with Adidas, MLS’ largest advertising partner. The expected boom in sales of goods will bring additional income to the player.
As for the football direction, the striker decided to play at the 2026 World Cup to defend the title of the Argentina national team. The World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, and Messi will help fuel interest in football in North America in the years to come.
At the same time, the media reported that Messi’s three-year contract allows the player to leave the team after completing any season.
