Van Haal ‘responses’ to Van Dyke’s complaints about Netherlands national team order
Virgil Van Dyke publicly expressed his preference for a 4-3-3 formation rather than a trio in defense used by Louis van Gaal, which “forced” the Dutch national team coach to react to the Liverpool stopper.
The Dutch national team beat Denmark 4-2 in an international friendly between the two sides at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena, but not everyone in the Green camp was satisfied with the final.
A case in point is Virgil Van Dyke, who didn’t hesitate to say publicly that he prefers to play with the classic 4-3-3 arrangement, which refers to… the Netherlands (a hallmark of their game from the wings) and not on the 3-4-1-2 he played against the Danes.
“If I like the system? You see, I still prefer 4-3-3, but I’m not the national coach and the national team has a very strong opinion on the subject.”said the 30-year-old ‘rock’ of the Liverpool defence, with the 70-year-old manager not too late to reply:
“I know he has that preference, he always says so publicly. We already had this discussion when I came here. The coach decides on the tactics.” said about it.
It is noted that Van Haal had implemented a 3-4-1-2 formation during the Netherlands’ presence at the 2014 World Cup, while now he has the same plan in mind, with the Greens securing the ticket for his final phase at the next World Cup will be held in Qatar stadiums in 2022.
