Nigeria 1-1 Ghana: Ghanaians return to World Cup, Super Eagles out
After an absence, Ghana return to the World Cup finals after a 1-1 draw in Nigeria for the African zone qualifiers.
THE Ghana is once again in the final stages of the World Cup, the 4th in its history. After going 0-0 in the first game, they drew 1-1 in Abuja opposite Nigeria in the West African Derby and thanks to the away goal won the battle of the 3rd and final qualifying round of the African zone.
Thomas Partey only scored the “golden” goal for the Ghanaians in the 10th minute. The ‘Superadler’ equalized in the 22nd minute through William Trust Ekong but needed one more goal to qualify.
There were almost no good moments and the psyche of the hosts sank every minute. Agustin Eguavon’s substitutions didn’t bring results and in the final minutes the ‘black stars’ took complete control of the game, maintaining the 1-1 lead that sent them to Qatar.
Ghana return to the tournament after an absence in 2018, while Nigeria end a streak of three appearances and fail to qualify for the World Cup for the seventh time.
