Senegal – Netherlands will be the opening game of the World Cup in Qatar
FIFA has made a change to the program of the World Cup in Qatar by choosing the match between Senegal and the Netherlands (21/11, 12:00, ANT1) as the tournament’s opening match, rather than the hosts’ (Qatar) and Ecuador on Tuesday.
Although it is common practice in major international football tournaments to start with the hosts, in this case Qatar, this will not happen at the 2022 World Cup.
FIFA announced the detailed program of the event with dates and times, in which they announced that the opening match between Senegal and Netherlands will take place on November 21 at 12:00 (Greek time) at Al Thumama Stadium.
Qatar’s game against Ecuador will be the third time of the tournament (will be played at 18:00 CET) as England will face Iran three hours earlier (15:00 CET).
Here you can see the program of the group stage of the World Cup and the pairings up to the final.
