FIFA announced the amount it made available to teams to use their players at the World Cup. The total amount is over 187 million euros.

The clubs shared a mountain of money for the participation of their footballers in the World Cup in Qatar. This money will of course come from FIFA’s coffers.

Specifically, a total of 440 clubs from all over the world received money and shared the huge sum of money 187.1 Million Euros.

The world governing body lists all the funds shared by the confederation in its detailed presentation, with UEFA receiving €142m for its teams.

In second place is Asia with 21.2 million euros and in third place is North and Central America with around 13.8 million euros.

The amounts collected by the Confederations

  • UEFA (Europe) – 275 teams – 142,252,078 euros
  • AFC (Asia) – 67 teams – 21,294,433 Euro
  • CONCACAF (North America) – 53 teams – 13,831,946 euros
  • CONMEBOL (South America) – 26 teams – 5,230,684 Euro
  • CAF (Africa) – 18 teams – 4,091,092 Euro
  • OFC (Oceania) – 1 team – 85,775 euros

As expected, Europe’s football associations dominated the monies their teams received.

At the top was England, whose clubs received around 33.7 million euros. The Spaniard came in second with 21.6 million euros and Germany closed the trio with 18.8 million euros.

The associations that received the most money

  1. Football Association of England: 33,761,320 euros
  2. Spain: 21,666,944
  3. Germany: 18.830.627
  4. from Italy: 16,722,996
  5. from France: 14,816,324

The amounts split between the teams were also expected, with Manchester City taking the top spot ahead of Barcelona.

Differences were also small between the remaining three places in the top five, with Bayern finishing third, followed by Real and Paris.

The 5 teams that received the most money

  1. Manchester City: 4,114,783 euros
  2. Barcelona: 4,063,317 euros
  3. Bavaria: 3,877,878 euros
  4. Real: 3,434,295 euros
  5. Paris: 3,433,478 euros

How is the amount calculated?

The amounts we have mentioned above essentially result from the remuneration set by FIFA and correspond to it 9,802 euros.

This amount is obtained by dividing the amount 187.1 million euros for the cumulative 19,080 days of use all soccer players for the World Cup.

The amount each team receives is then calculated from the day of the player’s integration into his country’s national team until his last official match in the competition.

For example, Lionel Messi was still playing at Barcelona when qualifying started. In total, the compensation for his participation in the World Cup amounted to around 350,000 euros.

However, this money will be split depending on the days in Barcelona and Paris. Thus, the Blaugrana is obtained 117,636 euros while the Parisian 235,272.

“To ensure that the two best-ranked teams, once they have won their group, do not compete against each other until the final,” FIFA says.

The new method has the potential to create more balance between teams and ensure that the strongest teams come together in the later stages of growth, as is often the case. Tenis, where the seeding system ensures finals between the nearest gravel types.

Although weaker teams can strengthen their system, this system supports sporting integrity and gives an advantage to the most successful teams. FIFA is committed to competitive balance and will give matches the highest priority to fans.
