Women’s World Cup. Canada failed to beat Nigeria, Switzerland stronger than Philippines
The second match of the Women’s World Championship Group B opening round was played between the Nigerian and Canadian national teams on Friday, 21 July.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw. The Canadians were the favourites, but did not confirm their status. In the 50th minute, Sinclair missed the chance to put his team ahead by failing to take the penalty kick.
The day before, 20 July, the Australian and Irish teams played in group B. The Australians won 1:0.
The second match of the 1st round was also played in Group A. The Swiss team defeated the Philippines team 2-0.
Recall that New Zealand and Norway also played in this foursome. On July 20, the New Zealand team beat the Norwegians 1:0.
