Australia 1-3 England: Reach the final of the Women’s World Cup in doubles
England defeated co-hosts Australia 3-1 to qualify for the 2023 World Cup for the first time in their history. A year after winning Euro 2022, England are aiming for the trophy.
England did their duty and prevailed in Sydney against 2023 World Cup co-hosts Australia 3-1 and for the first time in its history, it is just a touch away from the precious trophy, a year after winning Euro 2022.
The Lionesses took a first-half lead through Ella Tunney, but the home side, whose star player Sam Kerr started for the first time, leveled the score at 1-1 in the 63rd minute.
The Australians pushed but could not beat Mary Earps and paid the price. In the 71st minute Lauren Hebb regained the English lead and in the 86th minute Alessia Russo secured the qualification win.
