South America. Uruguay beat Peru, Brazil beat Bolivia
South America hosted two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup to be held in Canada, the USA and Mexico.
In the first match, the Uruguayan team defeated the Chilean team at home without any problems. Argentinian River Plate midfielder Nicolás De la Cruz scored late in the second half, off a pass from Darwin Nunez, and himself provided an assist to Federico Valverde. De la Cruz scored a goal in the second half and the Chileans responded with a goal from Arturo Vidal three minutes later, setting up the final score of the game.
In the second match, the Brazilian national team defeated the Bolivian team at home. Neymar missed a penalty midway through the first half but Rodrigo soon opened the scoring. Rafinha doubled from Neymar’s cross just after the break, before Rodrigo doubled five minutes later. Neymar scored midway through the second half and with 12 minutes left in normal time the visitors pulled a goal back – Victor Abrego scored from Gabriel Villalmil’s cross. However, the home team had the final say; During the stoppage time, Neymar also made a double and determined the final score of the match.
