He will try to create a sensation. Former Shakhtar coach is in charge of the Bolivia national team
54-year-old Brazilian specialist Antonio Carlos Zago was appointed as the head coach of the Bolivia national football team.
The details of Zago’s agreement with the Bolivian Football Federation are currently unknown, but the coach is given the task of taking the team to the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be played in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Bolivia national team has had an unsuccessful start in the 2026 World Cup South American qualifiers, losing all four of their opening matches and currently sitting last in their qualifying group, in tenth place.
In order to get a direct ticket from South America to the 2026 World Cup, the Bolivians must finish the race in at least sixth place. Seventh place will allow the team to play in the intercontinental play-offs.
Let us remember that Antonio Carlos Zago was Mircea Lucescu’s assistant at Shakhtar between 2013 and 2015. Most recently, the specialist headed Brazilian Coritiba, which he took over in April this year but was dismissed in June.
