The moment everyone has been waiting for has arrived: Luis Diaz travels to Colombia for his country’s national team games and reunites with his father, just days after being freed from his captors.

Luis Diaz has been having a tough time lately after both of his parents were kidnapped from their home. The Liverpool striker was relieved when he learned that his mother was released and waited almost two weeks for the same to happen – after much stress and effort – and with his father.

A few 24 hours ago, Luis Manuel Diaz’s father was reunited with other family members, but the most touching scene occurred on Tuesday afternoon (11/14) when the player visited his family in Barranquilla, shortly before moving to the Colombia national team’s training center before the World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Paraguay.

In fact, in images released by the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), Diaz can be seen hugging his father for the first time since his release last Thursday from the National Liberation Army (ELN) rebel group, which had held him hostage for 12 days.

“Welcome home, Lucho! This was Lucho’s exciting meeting with Mane Dias’ father and his family. We love you and are more united than ever!”“, the Colombian Football Association posted on its social media account, with the Liverpool player’s father unable to hold back tears during the reunion with his son.

It is noted that in the photos published by FCF, the mother of Luis Diaz, is pictured, as is the Colombian national coach Nestor Lorenzo and the president of the national association Ramon Hesurun.
