Messi is ready to break Jordan’s world record
The Argentina jerseys worn by Lionel Messi at the World Cup in Qatar are being auctioned for an amount that almost breaks Jordan’s world record.
Lionel Messi’s jerseys from the World Cup in Qatar, which Argentina won, are to be auctioned – including the jersey with which he played in the final against France. Estimates suggest that the final jersey, along with the others, will fetch and perhaps even exceed the incredible sum of around 9.1 million euros.
This means the Argentine star is just one breath away from breaking Michael Jornan’s current world record. In particular, the NBA legend’s jersey from the Chicago Bulls’ first game in the 1998 final of the competition was sold for 9.2 million euros.
THE The auction will take place in New York and people will have the chance to see Messi’s jerseys up close before they are sold.
These are the jerseys from the first leg of the final, the semi-final against Croatia, the quarter-final against the Netherlands, the round of 16 against Australia and two of the three group stage games.
This should also be taken into account part of the proceeds goes to charity.
Messi’s highest-paid shirt to date, which sold for around 410,000 euros, was Barcelona’s from the 2017 Clasico with Real at the Bernabeu.
