Brazil coach: “We were much closer to victory than Argentina”
Head coach of the Brazilian national team Fernando Diniz He commented on the defeat against Argentina (0:1) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
– Two teams with traditions are playing, they are very strong teams. And although the number of shots was almost the same, Brazil created much more dangerous opportunities. Argentina had no chance; We just made a positional mistake in the corner and Otamendi scored. We had counter attack moments, but the last pass and finishing were not enough.
We were much closer to victory than Argentina. I think the result is quite unfair.
– Is this the best match of the Brazilian national team under your management?
– It’s hard to call him the best. The team played very well against Bolivia. But the level of the opponent should also be taken into account. Argentina, as the current world champion, approached the match with great self-confidence. They won the World Championship less than a year ago. All things considered, this was one of our best matches, if not our best,” Diniz said.
We should also point out that before the Brazil-Argentina match, fans in the stands were beaten with batons.
